Our Mission
Wao Kele's mission is to revive West Maui’s ancient rainforest into a resilient ecosystem that honors cultural heritage and protects the island of Maui, including the Wailuku Heights community, from the increasing threat of wildfires. Through efforts like restoring native vegetation, securing water rights to enhance water retention, reducing erosion, and reviving ancient farming, we conserve and celebrate the Wao's ecological and cultural richness.
